Scratch Art - What is it?
Easy Scratch art is a special art form using scratchboard. Scratchboard is a wooden panel coated with a layer of white clay and then coated with a coating of black India ink. It had been designed for the professional scratch artist.
The first layout is lightly scratched to the black ink surface using very delicate tools; concentrating on lights and darks till the desired effect is achieved. Each image is literally thousands of scrapes allowing for precise detail and management of lines, enabling the artist to deliver the piece to life. The picture can then be painted with acrylics or watercolors etc, or left as a white and black.
What are Giclee Prints?
The French term giclee describes a method of sprayinga term that's been accepted to define top quality archival fine art prints made digitally. Over the years as giclees have gained acceptance in good art museums and museum settings, more and more questions are raised more than what attributes distinguish a giclee from a run of the mill electronic print.
The fine art giclee print must be replicated using the exacting elements, subtle nuances and the gradations of tones of the painting. The last product, printed on archival paper with archival inks has the rich appearance and feel of the first work of art.
